Highlight for album: 19 May 2012 - Texas District Convention
19 May 2012 - Texas District Convention
If you missed the Texas District Convention in New Braunfels you missed a great time. You can see some of the fun we had by viewing this album. Our OhYea steed showed in two of the three races. Maybe not a triple crown winner but a second place twice ain't too shabby. I am not sure if I can relate what our participants won but the chapter got second place ribbon for the chapter banner and first place for our new newsletter editor. Fred and Mandy stepped down as the Texas District Directors and David & Christina Vidrine took the oath as the new TX DD.

Highlight for album: 12 May 2012 - Town ride to Friendship & Rosebud
12 May 2012 - Town ride to Friendship & Rosebud
This Saturday could not have been better for riding. The objective was to find Friendship and Rosebud. It seems Friendship was a town to the east of Granger that was eventually covered by the formation of Lake Granger. There is a park to mark the spot of where Friendship use to be. Next we took some back roads (not all paved but not too bad) to Rosebud. Rosebud was originally known as Morman. In 1887 the community was wiped out by fire and the name was changed to Rosebud. We took a short stop at the Dairy Queen in Rosebud and decided to head down to Somerville to eat lunch. When we got to Somerville we found the Country Kitchen had changed names to the Boondocks Cafe. They still have the Sirloin steak that covers the plate but they now have more fish on the menu. Over all the day could not have been any better for a ride, and everyone had a great time.

Highlight for album: 25 May 2012 - Ride to Mason TX
25 May 2012 - Ride to Mason TX
This was a mid week ride to Mason (our M town). Israel led a group of 4 bikes leaving from Cedar Park and Tom met them in Llano. We arrived at the Willow Creek Cafe at noon for lunch. After Lunch we looked around the Town of Mason. On the square there is a memorial to Mason County Veterans and just up the street is the Mason County Library. We posed for pictures at both. At the library is a memorial to the author of Old Yeller (Fred Gipson). Fred was from Mason. After the library we went to the site of Fort Mason (just up the street from the Library). Ft Mason was the last post of General Robert E Lee before the civil war. Mason has lots of little know history. From Mason we proceeded to Castell, and on to Llano where we again split up and headed to either North or South Austin. Good food, good friends, and a good ride.

Highlight for album: 14 Apr 2012 - Bluebonnet Ral-a-vention
14 Apr 2012 - Bluebonnet Ral-a-vention
This year we had a great Bluebonnet Ral-a-vention. The weather was a little tricky but we stayed dry. The wind did blow a little. The tent campers seem to experience the worst of the wind. A number of the retired folks arrived early (Monday / Tuesday) and enjoyed the great weather and were able to get some supper riding in. We had a large group from New Mexico come and they had a ball. The final numbers will be updated but for now view the pictures and find your self. The folks trying the minute to Win it Games seem to have a lot of fun. We are already planning for the 2013 Ral-a-vention.

Highlight for album: Town Rides 17 & 24 March
Town Rides 17 & 24 March
This album contains two town rides. One on the 17 to San Gabriel an Val Verde and one on 24 to Johnson City. On the 17th we had 8 folks take the ride and on the 24 we had ride we had 16 folks make the ride to Johnson City. In Johnson City we ate at the Chrome Cactus Cafe. I can recommend this place as good food at good prices. After we ate we went to the Blanco County Court house to try and get a picture of the group. Unfortunately there was not a sign saying Johnson City. That was resolved by a little camera magic. After the picture a small group decided it was a good day to view the flowers on Willow City Loop. The followers were pretty but I do not think in full bloom. I am guessing they will be great by the time of the Bluebonnet Rally
